A 3-ton heat pump typically covers between 1,200 and 1,800 square feet. This range is based on average conditions, including typical ceiling heights, insulation quality, and climate factors. For optimal performance, it's essential to consider variables such as insulation, layout, and local climate, as these can significantly affect the required capacity for heating or cooling.

Manual J Load Calculation: This is the most accurate
method, as it accounts for all factors affecting
Joe, the Owner at Integrity Heating and Anthony the salesman never performed a manual J Load Calculation.
Anthony never measured the space where our oil burner was located until the next day after they put in the wrong unit. He never went through our house to see locations of vents, count vents or look at window leakage.
I asked Joe the owner for a copy of the J Load Calculation and he refused.
It is crucial to consider all factors below when
determining the appropriate tonnage for a heat
Integrity Heating & Air never counted our vents, never asked about our insulation, window areas, ceiling height, and sun exposure. We have very leaky windows and the never even asked about this. FAILED

Anthony, the salesman, who never measured the spacing down in the basement for the new HVAC unit was wearing dress shoes and would get them dirty and wet if he went down to take the measurements for the right HVAC unit. As stated, he took those measurements after the unit was almost finished and installed the next day. The installers had to stop on the promised day because no measurements were taken! Unheard of in this industry if you want to do the job once and correctly. Anthony then bought us 2 electric heat units from Home Depot out of guilt, negligence and maybe sort of a bribe! Joe the owner added a $100 bill in an attempt to soften the fact that they did not keep their promise of the one day install. Which is the main reason I accepted using Integrity Heating and Air of Laurel, DE; a one day install.
Mistake Made By Not Measuring Prior To Install
Marco and Renato, installers at Integrity stated to me that they had to stop the install on 01.30.2026 because they did not believe the vertical install would sufficiently heat our home properly. They did not have the extra parts to install the HVAC unit horizontally and correctly, as they weren't given any measurements by the sales guy Anthony. Note the photo above with the extra spacer on the right side. That makes the air circulate more efficiently and flow better to the main ducts in the house. Notice the left photo has a shorter top spacer duct added.
